How many times when you have been driving in bad weather or waiting to overtake a car or lorry on the motorway in heavy rain, or if spray is coming up off the road, have you wished that your car had an extra wiper blade so that your visibility could be 100% all of the time? So how does it work?
Contrary to popular belief, glass is not a smooth surface. Under a microscope the surface of glass is rough and pitted and it is this roughness which creates anchor points for dirt. These anchor points allow dirt and water to hang on to the surface to become hard to move. This is why glass is so hard to clean and, more importantly, impossible to keep clean without regular maintenance.
PermaClear for windscreens applies an invisible polymer coating to the surface which actually fills in the roughness and pitting on the surface to create a perfectly smooth surface with no anchor points. When there is nothing for the dirt and water to cling on to, any dirt, water, and insects can be easily removed. Wipers become quieter and more efficient because they are not having to move a mountain of dirt and water each time they move and the clearance of anything on the windscreen, including insects and bird droppings, is quicker and clearer every time. Even more dramatic is that rain and dirt hitting the windscreen at speeds 40 mph and above will be blown away by the air flow over the car.
The product is on an antifreeze base and so the washer system is able to operate at much lower temperatures. Ice on the windscreen is also easier removed because of the PermaClear coating.
How do I use it?
It couldn’t be easier! For a number of years car accessory shops have stocked coating products. These are tedious to apply in that two or three applications are usually recommended, which can take considerable time.
They work well but, after a short time with wiper use, they begin to wear out and need re-application. This wearing out will manifest itself in juddering of the wiper blade and associated noise and the clearance of the windscreen becomes patch and smeary.
PermaClear for windscreens addresses this vital weakness in other products and it is very easy to use as there is no application procedure necessary.
Just add 1/3 of the 500 ml bottle of PermaClear for windscreens to the washer bottle of your car and top up with clean water – that’s it! Now, every time you activate your wash/wipe system your windscreen will be coated so the PermaClear protective coating is maintained automatically with just a push of the washer button. So providing you maintain the PermaClear in your washer bottle the coating will not wear out to ensure that your wipers are 100% efficient all of the time.
